Football Queensland (FQ) has today announced further initiatives forming part of the referee reforms being rolled out to improve refereeing across the state.
The new initiatives follow the recent announcements of the appointment of State Referee Manager Jacqui Hurford, the teal shirt initiative for first year referees, and a number of other new staff appointments in the referee department.
A major focus of the reforms will be the creation of a referee department structure that is agile and efficient, with a renewed approach to talent identification and development of referees, alongside a state-wide strategy to recruit and retain referees and more.
These reforms align with the objectives of the 2020 – 2022 Strategic Plan to achieve the target of 2,200 referees by 2022.
Football Queensland looks forward to working collaboratively with our zones as we roll out these initiatives across the state.
